Colorful Wall Murals at Children's Hospital Bethel

The Project

At Bethel Children's Hospital in Bielefeld, the project was about far more than decoration: we wanted to take away young patients' fear of the hospital and create a warm, sheltered atmosphere.

Using colourful, child-friendly motifs, we designed smooth walls and glass-fleece surfaces by direct print. In a clinical setting, particularly low-emission, health-safe inks and a hygienic, wipe-disinfectable surface are essential – direct printing delivers both, without wallpaper edges or adhesive residue where dirt could collect. The design was completed within two days, coordinated around ongoing hospital operations.

Today the cheerful wall images accompany the children through corridors and waiting areas, providing distraction, comfort and making the stay a little easier for the whole family.

In healthcare settings, in hospitals, medical practices and waiting areas, wall design faces particular demands on hygiene and materials. Direct printing needs no wallpaper edges or adhesive residue where germs could gather, and the surface can be wipe-disinfected. We use low-emission inks, so the motifs stay safe even in a children's hospital and, above all, do one thing: put a smile on young patients' faces.
